Jackson hosts a party bringing all the elements of the bizarre world of Zen Cinema clearly into focus; i.e. Bluegrass Music and Masked Mexican Wrestlers. Meet the Zen Friends and Zen Family of the Zen Filmmaking Duo: Scott Shaw & Donald G. Jackson, as the party introduces the viewers to famed indie filmmakers, indie stars, and folk music icons, all set to live bluegrass music performances and wrestling matches.
FILM FACTS:
The Scott Shaw Zen Documentary, Bluegrass Christmas Party is a film that grew out of an idea suggested by Donald G. Jackson. Jackson wanted to bring his Zen Filmmaking Family together during the Christmas season of 1998 for a folk and bluegrass gathering at The Alley in North Hollywood, California. The Alley is a celebrated (and secretive) music stage where an untold number of eminent artists have developed, rehearsed, and played their music from the 1970s forward. Jackson wanted to MC the event, add in a bit of performance art, and allow his friends to congregate and listen to the music of two of the musical groups he championed: Walden Dahl and Cowboy Buddha. Shaw guided the cameras, and the filming gave birth to Bluegrass Christmas Party.
