  • Flashback 1992: Here's Kenneth H. Kim and Yours Truly, Scott Shaw during the casting sessions for the Zen Film, Samurai Johnny Frankenstein, then titled, Atomic Samurai. The Casting Sessions for this film took place at the production offices of Fred Weintraub who produced the Bruce Lee film, Enter the Dragon, among many others. Ken had a working relationship with Weintraub and it was through this contact that we were allowed to use his offices. I only wish that our production budget for the film would have matched the massive suite of offices we were allowed to use for casting, located in the heart of Century City. :-)

  • Here's a fun little piece of Scott Shaw history for you. Back when we were doing Guns of El Chupacabra, Don Jackson got all obsessed... As I had been knighted, The Reverend Doctor Saint Francis Blade, at the end of the film, he wanted to make sure that I actually would be a Reverend, Doctor by the time of the film's premiere. (My Ph.D. was already in place). So, I sent off my application and here's my Credentials of Ministry circa 1998. Hey, I can legally marry people. :-)

  • Here’s an interesting piece of history for you… As someone who is not nostalgic by nature I rarely hold onto memorabilia. Here is an exception. This Smith Victor Photo Flood Lamp is probably the last remaining anything that we used when we filmed Samurai Vampire Bikers from Hell. The sword, the leather jacket, you name it… It’s all gone. But, this lamp remained and, in fact, was used while filming a number of later Zen Films.

  • No, sorry, I'm not into cosplay. :-) Flashback 1991: This is a couple of shots of me on the set of MacGyver where I played a character in the episode, Good Knight MacGyver. This is also one of the two incidences where I came to realize that the Screen Actors Guild does not stand behind its members. The production had gone over budget and they took away our trailers. I complained to SAG and not only did they pull my screen credit but I did not get paid for the five days I was on the set. Though, now that you know what to look for you do see and hear me throughout the episode. Awh, life in Hollywood... Isn't it grand.

  • Here's a flashback photo for you... This is my Sony VX-2000. ...Probably the greatest Indie Film Camera that was ever made. I shot Zen Films like Undercover X, Hitman City, Super Hero Central, Blood on the Guitar, Killer: Dead or Alive, Vampire Noir, and Vampire Abstracta with it. Then came the world of Digital HD and now this camera is virtually completely antiquated.

  • Here is a piece of history that some of you may find interesting. One of the things that I do is to read historically-based submitted manuscripts for publishers when they are in the final stages of deciding whether to publish the work or not and want someone to give the book a final appraisal as to its factuality. Major publishers also send me advanced copies of books they are about to publish when they feel I have knowledge about the subject and want me to write a review about the book. Here is the letter Random House sent me in 1991 in association with the book, Hank. This book remains the best biography written about Charles Bukowski.

  • Here's the theater card I had Don Stroud sign for me during the filming of Roller Blade Seven. From the 1960s forward I was always a big fan of Don. When I met him on the set of one of my first films Divine Enforcer and then got to work with him on RB7 it was like a dream come true. We both lived in the South Bay of L.A. and whenever I would run into him or he would invite me over to his place it was just too weird as I was such a fan but I always am thankful I got to work with him.
